Located on the southern end of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Chinitna Bay is home to a multitude of brown bears that come to the bay to feed on the protein rich sedge grasses, copious clams and fish the late summer salmon runs.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Alaska Coastal Brown Bear in their natural environment.
You will fly through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, past active volcanoes, glaciers and snow-capped mountains to the largest concentration of brown bears on Earth. After landing on an ocean beach and stepping out of the bush plane, you will become a guest in their home.
With a guide at your side you will walk along the beaches and meadows, where brown bear are frequently observed living naturally in their secluded, wilderness habitat. Witness bear fishing, digging for clams, grubbing for roots and grasses, socializing and raising their young.
Day tours depart Homer in the morning and departure times vary slightly between 7AM and 9AM depending on tides and weather.
The scenic flight to the East coast of the Katmai National Park lasts from 1 to 1 3/4 hours each way and you will spend 3 hours on the beach wildlife viewing.
Return time back to Homer is usually around 2 or 3PM depending on the departure time and how long the flights last.
