Jules Glaser’s humorous take on the Thomy’s mustard advertising created quite a sensation in the 1940’s. His master piece is simple yet affective with showing not the actuall object, the mustard itself, but just a signiture and the top of the tube on his poster. The image and the inscription on the bottom, the good mustard speaks for itself The poster has been created with the highest degree of skill, the lettering is executed with a sense of three dimensionality and shadowing, which speaks of an extremely talented hand.

Jules Glaser was born in 1917 in Binningen, Basel-Land, spent his childhood in South America and returned to Basel at the age of 13. From 1933 to 1935, he apprenticed as an ornamental painter at the Basel School of Design.
