About this poster
In 1946, Swissair ordered the first four-engine DC-4s and in the same year the first DC-4 coming from New York landed in Geneva. Although the airline traffic gradually started to leave from Dübendorf in the same year, the Kloten airport was officially inaugurated only in 1953. This rare, outstanding original poster was created by Bernhard Reber in 1946 to advertise Swissair’s DC-4 and the new Kloten airport: simply a masterpiece in Swiss poster and the Swissair history.

Bernhard Reber was born in Biel in 1910, lived in Lucerne from 1923, trained as a graphic artist and illustrator in Paris, Berlin, Leipzig and Prague. His creative works (illustrations, stamps, brochures and posters) are rarities today. His posters for the alpine postal services and Swissair are particularly sought after.
