About this poster
Karl Bickel designed a dozen posters for the hotel and tourism industry in the early 1930s. Since hotels were usually advertised with grand view of the building and the landscapes or gastronomical specialties, the use of flowers in Bickel’s posters is rather unusual. Like in other of his posters for hotels, it could be interpreted as a personal expression of a close relationship to nature. This tasteful poster for the Scheidegg hotels is a beautiful stone lithograph and a great combination of elegant advertising and delightful flower illustration.

Karl BICKEL was born in 1886 in Zurich and died in 1982.
Educated als a lithographer and advertising designer, he became technical director in a Zurich advertising atelier from 1904 to 1908. During this period, he attended the Kunstgewerbeschule Zurich.
