About this poster
In the eighties, Rifle jeans advertisements caused a sensation. Peter Marti’s provocative posters depicting erotic scenes and girls showing a lot of bare skin were a brave and much discussed type of advertising. The Zurich City Police Department banned this poster under reference to article 74 of municipal law on the maintenance of peace and order, arguing that it threatened road safety because it distracted road users. The poster was subsequently banned in other cantons as well. No other poster in Switzerland attracted as much attention or was written and complained about as much as the ‘ass poster’.
