The typographic design on this sale poster for PKZ by Otto Baumberger is bold and unique. This humorous, effective advertisement is a fine example of the Art Deco style, although it was somewhat controversial at the time. The master tailors’ association was affronted and declared in a press release that ‘the PKZ mocked and ridiculed an entire profession with this rude piece of advertising’.

Otto Baumberger was born in Zurich in 1889. He served an apprenticeship as a lithographer and took courses at the Zurich Art School (Kunstgewerbeschule) from 1905 to 1907.
