About this poster

It is hard to find better advertising than the "object posters" created in Basel from the 1940s to 1960s. One of the most highly praised posters is the Magritte-inspired image for the Swiss fashion company PKZ created by Niklaus Stoecklin. Stoecklin is considered one of Switzerland’s pioneers in poster art. He studied the modern graphic style in Munich and was heavily influenced by Ludwig Hohlwein, who was considered by many to be the greatest German poster artist.
