Cassandre, who was born Adolphe Mouron in the Ukraine, was considered as a leader of French graphic design in the 1920s and 1930s and France’s most impressive graphic designer after Toulouse-Lautrec. His 1935 poster for the former American cigarette brand PACIFIC presents the classic Cassandre style.

Cassandre, whose real name was Adolphe Marie Mouron, was born in 1901 in the Ukraine. In 1915, he moved to Paris, where he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and at the Académie Julian. He chose his pseudonym in 1922, when he started designing posters.
