The Klausen races were among the most famous and dangerous mountain car races of the 1920s and 1930s; they took place from 1922 to 1934 on the Klausenstrasse between the cantons of Uri and Glarus. The the best drivers from around the world gathered to try their luck on the winding roads over the Klausen pass. This amazing vintage stone lithograph by Anton Trieb is very rare and a beautiful example of Art Deco poster design.

Anton Trieb was born in Bavaria in 1883 and his family emigrated to Switzerland in 1896. In 1904 he started an apprenticeship as a graphics illustrator at Orell Füssli and kept working for the company afterwards. In 1916 he opened his own studio in Wallisellen near Zurich and from then on worked successfully as a watercolour painter, illustrator and graphic designer.
