About this poster
Grand Prix races have been held on the Klausenpassstrasse since 1922 and car races in Berne since 1934. On the occasion of the Swiss National Exhibition in Zurich in 1939, Zurich also wanted to hold Grand Prix races. The race could not take place because of the outbreak of World War II.

After training at the Winterthur Technical School and at the St. Gallen museum of industry and crafts, Adolf Schnider took various courses at art academies in Paris, Florence and Munich. As a painter and graphic designer, Schnider created book illustrations and covers, stage sets, murals and a few poster lithographs, like the renowned and rare poster for the Zurich Grand Prix in 1939.
