About this poster
A very rare and stunning object poster by the famous Basel poster designer Peter Birkhauser for the Bülach glass factory: a masterpiece in hyper-realistic style. Bülach (today the company’s name is Vetropack) produced jars for Swiss housewives to make fruit and vegetable preserves to feed their families during the hard winter months. Birkhäuser had a strong passion for a graphic style of precision, for brilliant colors and richness in texture, and used the difficult airbrush technique in lithograph printing. He succeeded in making an object or a product look real and achieved an advertising message that could be understood by all Swiss people, in a country with four national languages. The artist creatively used a glass blowing tool to stand for the letter “L” in the company’s name. It is almost impossible to find better advertising than the "object posters" created in Basel in the 1940s and 1950s by Niklaus Stoecklin, Peter Birkhäuser and later by Herbert Leupin.
