Josef Müller-Brockmann was a leading exponent of the Swiss International Style. He designed typographic posters using geometric compositions and is especially known for his advertisements for cultural events. Most of the posters he created in the mid-20th century won a number of prizes. Poster collectors love Müller-Brockmann’s avant-garde style of poster design.

In 1930, he started a traineeship as a graphic designer which he quit in 1932. In 1934, he started working as a freelance designer and illustrator in Zurich.
