Jules-Ami Courvoisier
Jules-Ami Courvoisier was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1884 and died in Geneva in 1936. He was trained by the painter Charles l’Eplattenier and by Eugène Grasset in Paris. Courvoisier lived in Geneva from 1911. He often used black-and-white effects or just two colours in his posters to create an expressive, figurative design. Courvoisier also illustrated books and his painting was strongly influenced by Art Nouveau and by Hodler.
