The famous artist Martin Peikert provoked astonishment with his amusing and lively posters for the Swiss tourist resorts. His bold designs made him one of the most popular designers of Swiss travel advertising in the 1940s and his posters still appeal to many collectors both in Switzerland and abroad. This attractive poster promoting the Zug region features important landmarks and landscape features within two luscious red cherries. Martin Peikert was born in 1901 in Zug and died there in 1975.
He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva and worked as an advertising illustrator until he graduated in 1921. In the years 1921 to 1923 he travelled to Stuttgart, Hamburg and Paris.
