In his work as a stone lithographer, Ernst Schlatter developed new application techniques. He applied this knowledge and his talent as a freelance artist and painter to his poster art. Schlatter created some of the best and most artistically exciting landscape and travel posters. This impressive stone lithograph and rare vintage poster from 1914 advertises the electric tram line over the Lorzentobel ravine in the canton of Zug.

Ernst Emil Schlatter was born in 1883 and studied the craft of lithography in Zurich and Stuttgart. He returned to his native city of Zurich around 1910 to work for Wolfensberger Lithographic Institute (Graphische Anstalt Wolfensberger), where he introduced several important innovations in the application of stone lithography to poster art.
